Jay Faires Faires founded JFE in 2011, a TV oriented production company with a slant toward music and bold faced names. It is building commerce opportunities by mobilizing communities around engaging content. He currently sits on the board of the LA Chapter of the Recording Academy [1] and the charity My Friend's Place [2] for at risk youth in LA. He owns a piece of the growing yoga concept and studio Yogaposer [3]. He's a weekend surfer and yogi, whose enjoyment of both far exceeds his abilities. Twice before he has created built and sold businesses to publicly traded entities, The Walt Disney Company and Lionsgate. He previously served on the Board of Trustees of the University of the South and been been featured in the New York Times [4] and in the Hollywood Reporter's 40 under 40. He guest lectured repeatedly and received his MBA from Duke University.
Faires additionally has extensive public company entertainment media experience most recently while serving as President of Music at Lionsgate, in addition to the Walt Disney Company and before that Warner Music's Atlantic. During his tenure at Lionsgate, he worked closely with artists such as Mary J Blige and U2 while overseeing the music for such hits as Madmen and Weeds in the television world and films such as Crash and Precious. During his tenure, the music publishing asset more than doubled. While inside Disney, the Squirrel Nut Zippers enjoyed platinum and gold success off their #1 hit "Hell". At Atlantic, he oversaw the rock and alternative departments and had the #1 hit "Cumbersome" from the platinum selling Seven Mary Three.
